Well, I gave away my laptop, so I am internet free till January 2. Abby and I are going to visit her family and then go to NY and see the ball drop! We are also seeing the broadway show “Wicked” and the “Radio City Christmas Extravaganza“.

Then we also have the obligatory Statue of Liberty visit, ice skating in Rockefeller Center, checking out Wall Street, etc. When we get back I’ll figure out how to add a picture gallery on here and give lots of updates!

Well, despite my griping and long-term resistance to the idea of getting a mac, I was coerced into it by Abby.  I sold my monstrous 17″ XP Pro laptop, and looked at the educational pricing for a Macbooks.  Basically, between a Macbook and a Macbook Pro is a wide, black chasm in performance (see: Intel 64MB shared video processor vs. dedicated video card).  Also, the Macbook has only a 13.3″ screen, but is 5.2 lbs!  In comparison, the Macbook Pro has a 15.4″ screen and is 5.6 lbs. After lugging around a 10 lb. laptop for a long time, weight matters. and its really dumb that it is that heavy!

So, as you can figure out, we are going with a Macbook Pro (education discount).  Probably the cheapest one.  I don’t think we need the big video card or more memory…and I can add memory later when it’s cheaper (not $150 for 1GB).  We will, however, wait until the huge Macworld Expo where Apple will upgrade iLife, iWork, and, hopefully the new OS.  I was told that once Apple announces a ship date on OS 10.5, we’ll be able to get the upgrade for only $20!  So, by waiting another few weeks we’ll save another $230 in software, hopefully.
The big thing for me is whether I like it….then we might have another Mac baby coming along later in the year.

Well, I’m really wrestling with narrowing my vision today. I’m faced with the question as to what I really want to do/what God has for me at TGP (The Gathering Place) church. Abby has challenged me to really narrow it down and focus, so I’m trying to figure it out. I know it will have something to do with Influx, I’ve been involved with the 18-28 year old segment for the whole time I’ve been a Christian. Now, I need to figure out what to do from here…Tomorrow I’ll have a chat with the leaders of Influx, and I’ll have to have something figured out by then, so I’ll keep you updated (all my faithful readers ;).
